The Truth Has Been Spoken!
Thinking about a morning without coffee seems a bad idea. But do we actually know which is good time to have coffee and which is bad time to have it? In fact most of us really don’t know this. Science has recently discovered a surprising facts about having coffee at different times of the day.
According to a survey it is found that 60% of american are habitual of having coffee in the early morning. But the fact is that its the worst time to have caffeine. The main reason is high levels of cortisol in our bodies early in the morning. As consuming coffee/caffeine when cortisol levels are high creates two problems for us. One is that caffeine directly interferes with the body’s production of the cortisol which is actually a hormone that is released in response to stress and low blood glucose in our body. As a result our body ends up producing less cortisol, and relying more on caffeine to compensate. Because it found it as a good substitute which is readily available.
The other effect of drinking coffee in the morning is that it increases the individual’s tolerance level to caffeine because it replaces the natural cortisol-induced boost instead of adding to it.Keep in mind that the cortisol levels are high more than one time a day which is actually three times of the day, not just in the early morning, according to a 2009 study. So the best times to drink coffee or caffeine in general is between 10 a.m. and noon, and between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
As we all have 24 hours period is the circadian clock cycle. This is associated with the release of hormones that alters our behavior and physiology in various of ways that affects our mood and energy levels. The location of the biological clock in humans is the hypothalamus. Among other things they control includes our cortisol production, a hormone that naturally makes us feel more awake. But when we take caffeine on the peak levels of cortisol then our hormonal balance gets disturb. This can cause disrupt sleep. But if we take it in the right time than we don’t get bad effects as such.
So although we have strong habit of having coffee in the early morning we should avoid it. Scientist say we should at least take coffee after an hour when we wake up. For better health we should reschedule our coffee timings. We should have it from 10 a.m to 12 a.m and then 2 p.m to 5 p.m. Even if taken 6 hours before sleep, coffee can disrupt our sleep so coffee should be avoided at night.
